Neck Injuries
A workers compensation neck injury can involve a sudden pain while performing your job duties or a gradual build up of pain over an extended period of time. An on the job neck injury might often follow an automobile accident suffered while on the job. As with any injury on the job it is important that such an injury be reported to your employer. The employer must be notified that you have suffered a neck injury or that you have developed neck pain over time due to performing your job duties. When you report a neck injury to your employer they should report such a matter to their workers compensation carrier who will determine if they are going to provide medical care. Clients often will consult with me at this time as the insurance company may wrongly deny the claim or simply take too long to process the claim. This can be an extremely frustrating process for the injured worker. I can help you through this process.
Once you are able to get medical treatment for your injury it is important to inform the medical professional of all of the pain you are experiencing. This can included radiating pain. Often someone who has suffered an on the job neck injury may have radiating pain into the shoulders, arms and down to the fingers. If you have pain running down one or both of your arms as a result of your workers compensation neck injury it is important to inform the medical professional who is treating you. If you have numbness or tingling radiating down your arm you should inform the medical professional of this symptom. With injuries involving the neck, it is important to notify the medical professional of any radiating pain or numbness down ones arm. These symptoms may help the medical professional diagnose your injury. Radiating pain can also affect multiple parts of your body which can be significant in pursuing your workers compensation claim. If you are having limited range of motion in your neck or headaches following your on the job neck injury inform the medical professional so that these matters are documented.
Neck Injuries can be some of the most serious injuries in the workers compensation system. Many times these injuries involve individuals who are performing jobs which are strenuous and require constant use of the neck and back. Neck injuries can also occur when a pre-existing condition is aggravated by activities at work. Treatment for such injuries can range from rest, to physical therapy and even involve surgery.
There are many things to consider when you have suffered an on the job neck injury. Will this injury prevent you from being able to perform your job? Will you be able to earn the same income following your workers compensation neck injury? Will you have permanent work restrictions as a result of your neck injury? Will you be entitled to future medical care for your neck after your on the job injury? These are all issues that should be considered following an on the job neck injury. I can help you through the process and help you determine the answers to these questions. If you will not be able to return to your job, earn the same income and/or need future medical care these issues will have to be addressed during your workers compensation case to insure that your interests are protected.
