Car Accidents
If you have been injured in a serious automobile or car accident in South Carolina, J. Bradley Baker, LLC can help. When you have been seriously injured in an accident you should hire an experienced attorney. Mr. Baker can investigate the facts surrounding the accident and determine all of the insurance coverage which may be available to you. You may be entitled to recover beyond the liability coverage carried by the at fault party. There are different levels of coverage which may be available to someone who has been injured in an auto accident. You may be entitled to PIP or Med Pay Coverage which may pay your bills. There should be liability coverage available to you or uninsured coverage. In some cases you may be entitled to under insured coverage following a serious crash involving significant injuries. The insurance companies may not tell you about all of the coverage available to you.
If you are involved in an automobile accident you should immediately seek medical treatment if you are injured or experiencing pain. Any delay could be detrimental to your health and could be used against you by the at fault party's insurance company. Should you require treatment beyond the emergency room you might want to consult with an attorney. You will likely receive a call from the insurance company of the individual who caused the accident. They will likely want to take a recorded statement. I generally advise clients not to give such statements and if I allow such a statement I would want to be present or on the line when the statement is given. It is human nature to make statements during such a recording that may be used against you later. Remember the insurance company is not trying to help you. They are looking out for their interest. Their interest is to significantly limit your recovery following a serious crash. Statements such as "I'm fine", I'm doing better" "I'm OK" will be used against you. Also statements such as "I don't know what happened" can create issues with proving liability. You should always consult with an attorney before giving a recorded statement.
Law Enforcement should always be called following an accident. They will document the accident and obtain contact information from all parties involved. They will also obtain insurance information from all of the drivers who were involved in the auto accident. Of course you will want the name and contact information of the individual who caused the accident. You will also want to obtain their insurance information. As soon as possible you should take pictures of your vehicle or the vehicle in which you were riding and all other vehicles that were involved in the accident. The pictures can be crucial if the matter later goes to trial.
When seeking medical treatment following a crash be sure to inform the medical professionals of all your injuries. Inform them of every part of your body in which you are feeling pain. It is important to follow the advice of the medical professionals following an accident and return to them if your problems or pain continues.
